We lost a great thespian and artist today. A truly talented, gifted and show stealing actor. Your art and craft will be missed for ages to come Mr. Rickman.
Rickman first came to the attention of American audiences as "Vicomte de Valmont" in "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" on Broadway in 1987 (he was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the role). Denied the role in the film version of the show, Rickman instead made his first movie appearance opposite Bruce Willis in Die Hard(1988) as the villain, "Hans Gruber". Rickman's take on the urbane villain set the standard for screen villains for decades to come. Though often cited as being a master of playing villains, Rickman has actually played a wide variety of characters, such as the romantic cello-playing ghost "Jamie" in Anthony Minghella's Truly Madly Deeply(1990) and the noble "Colonel Brandon" of Sense and Sensibility (1995). He's treated audiences to his comedic abilities with films like Dogma (1999), Galaxy Quest (1999) and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005), and roles like "Dr. Alfred Blalock" inSomething the Lord Made (2004) and "Alex Hughes" in Snow Cake (2006), showcase his ability to play ordinary men in extraordinary situations. Rickman even conquered the daunting task of singing a part in a Stephen Sondheim musical as he took on the part of "Judge Turpin" in the movie adaptation of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007).
In 2001, Rickman introduced himself to a whole new, and younger, generation of fans by taking on the role of "Severus Snape" in the movie versions of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). He has continued to play the role through the eighth and last movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011). (IMDB)

If you have never been to a "Toy Show" you're missing out. Just the ability to walk around and see your childhood at every glance is a magnificent nostalgia train ride. The 3rd semi-annual "Too Groovy Toy Show" was no exception. Everywhere I looked I saw pieces of my childhood. G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Transformers, Legos, He-Man, Go-Bots, Hot Wheels, Battlestar Galactica, Video games, Comic books, even sports cards; a person could go bankrupt trying to recapture their youth in this place!
Bob Novotny, Steve Appleby and Patrick Senatro, co-founders of the Too Groovy Toy Show were on scene to manage show as well as sell some of their own wares.
Personally I worked the first two "Too Groovy Toy Shows" selling copies of my "War in the Backyard" novels. I always found it hard to make a profit because I had to restrain myself from spending what I made from my books, on all the awesome toys and collectibles that surrounded me. So this show, I came as a journalist, father and all around Fan Boy! My son who is 5 came with me and it was really cool to tell him about the toys, the cartoons or comics they came from. Which ones I used to have etc...
It was also cool to learn from the vendors about the toys. These guys and gals have a treasure trove of knowledge when it comes to their passions. For instance, The Atari Guy! I learned more about vintage consoles and gaming in 10 minutes of talking to him then I ever thought possible.
"One of the hardest things about selling vintage consoles is getting them functional" he says. "Replacement parts are scarce, and trying to get the more popular titles is a real challenge..." he added. He also gave me a really cool piece of trivia. Did you know that Howard Scott Warshaw, creator and programmer of classic Atari games "E.T., Indiana Jones and Yars" is now a Psychologist in Silicon Valley and focuses on therapy for programmers. To help them deal with burn out and stress? How freaking cool is that?!
It wasn't all vintage and original toys present though. My new friend here took a 1960 Deluxe Toy Company tank and rebuilt the entire thing to include, paint job, wiring and custom gun barrels to make a 12" scale G.I. Joe Mobat tank with 12" Custom "Steeler" Action Figure! I always loved "Steeler" from G. I. Joe! Of course I did, he's from Pittsburgh, PA!
This was the first show in their new venue and the consensus among the vendors and patrons was that the space was ten times better than the first two shows. With more parking available and more vendors attending, the astronomically low price at the door, $2.00; allowed more money to flow between patrons and vendors.
"We have already outgrown this venue. We have over 30 vendors and we're going to need to start finding a bigger space it looks like..." Patrick said. Fellow Blogger, Writer and extremely talented artist Rose Quayle was also on hand selling her #Cronies art. Rose is a very talented artist and writer and you NEED to check out her BLOG Yello80s.
I can't wait until the next show! Pat, Bob; GREAT JOB!
Boston cops said Sunday they may have foiled a gun attack on the recent Pokemon World Championships in the city.
While a gathering of Pokemon enthusiasts may seem like an unlikely target for those intent on causing untold carnage, the authorities nevertheless decided to move in after learning of threats posted on social media by the two potential attackers shortly before the competition started.
Kevin Norton, 18, and 27-year-old James Stumbo, both from Iowa and both invited to take part in the contest, had posted a message on Facebook about "killing the competition" while including a photo of two guns displayed on a car's trunk.
It may have sounded like a joke to some, but when cops made a search of the pair's car, which was parked close to where the event was being held, they uncovered a 12-gauge Remington shotgun, one DPMS Model AR-15 rifle, several hundred rounds of ammunition, and a hunting knife. Making matters worse for Norton and Stumbo was the fact that neither of them had permits to carry the weapons.
As a result, the two gamers were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, as well as other firearm-related charges.
Commenting on the incident, Superintendent Paul Fitzgerald, commander of Boston police department's Bureau of Intelligence and Analysis, said, "The BPD detectives….did a great job in the stop and prevention of a potential tragedy."

Craig was also known for her appearance on an episode of “Star Trek” in 1969 when she played an Orion Slave Girl who wanted to kill Captain Kirk, played by William Shatner.
The Taylorville, Illinois native began her career at 17 when she became the youngest member of the The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. She was with the troop for three years before she was chosen to play the part of Elena de la Madrid in the 1959 movie “The Young Land.”
She went on to appear alongside Elvis Presley in two movies, 1963's “It Happened at the World’s Fair” and 1964's “Kissin’ Cousins.” She even had a brief relationship with Presley, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Craig would go on to other roles in television series like “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” and “Mod Squad."
Craig is survived by her sister, husband Kenneth Aldrich and nephews Christopher and Todd Carson.
EPD: Bag found near Day School planted by same suspect who planted explosives near restaurant
Jess Raatz 14news reports that a suspect has been arrested and charged in #DevicesDiscovered case. Name is 25-year-old Caleb Loving.
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Police say the suspicious bag found near Day School was planted by the same suspect who planted a bag containing explosive devices near an Evansville restaurant.
Evansville police say a Molotov cocktail and a suspected pipe bomb were discovered inside a bag near the McDonald's in the 3300 block of N. Green River Rd.
Police tell us a McDonald's customer called 911 and said a man wearing a bullet proof vest walked inside with a suspicious bag. Officers say a bag was found and the restaurant was evacuated.
That area of Green River Rd. was closed off and the EPD Hazardous Device Unit was brought in to check it out.
Police say the Hazardous Device Unit has taken care of both of those devices. A man who lives behind the McDonald's tells 14NEWS the explosion shook his windows when the bomb squad detonated the suspected pipe bomb.
The second bag at Day School was discovered around 11:30 and police have moved to work that location as well.
EPD says they have called additional units to the area to check for any additional threats. Police are asking anyone in the area of Green River and Morgan to Lynch who sees any suspicious packages or devices to call 911 immediately.
Evansville police are asking people to avoid the area.
Police say they do have a suspect in custody. They say the suspect also matches the description of the person they were looking for in connection with an overnight arson at the Sugar Mill Creek apartment complex
Congressional leaders ordered the flags at the U.S. Capitol lowered to half-staff to honor the five victims of last week's shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tenn. -- but no such order has come from President Obama, as the White House flag continues to fly Tuesday morning at full staff.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner said in a statement that as Congress returned to session on Tuesday, the flags were lowered for the Navy sailor and four Marines killed.
"Last week, five brave service members were murdered in a terror attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Out of respect for their courageous service and sacrifice to our nation, flags at the U.S. Capitol are being lowered to half-staff," Boehner said in a statement.
The House will also observe a moment of silence Tuesday evening for the victims.
McConnell said, "[T]he U.S. Senate's thoughts are with their families and loved ones, and with all those who protect us here, and around the world."
So far, the White House has not ordered its flags to be lowered.
After the horrific tragedy in Tennessee, things are changing. Patriots, Veterans, Honest Citizens are arming themselves within means of the law and standing watch at their local Recruitment centers. We have by now all seen the man pictured above who is quoted saying, "It's fundamental Muslim extremism," he says. "They declared war on us, and we seem to not put it in perspective and realizing that war is here."
It doesn't end with the unnamed patriot. This is beginning all over the country. While Congress, Senate, and POTUS all tell us to keep a calm head and refuse to arm the Military Personnel; State Governors are handling it differently. Texas, Indiana, Oaklahoma and many more States Governors are taking action, and issuing orders to their respective National Guard Units to Arm themselves.
