Savannah River Armory is making some of the coolest Rifles on the market. The sheer smoothness, lightweight frames and dependability of these firearms is unparalleled. In the video you can see that both myself and Chris Howard from Howards Firearms, were overly impressed by the fact that these rifles had NO RECOIL and that they didn't have that signature right pull that most AR-15s have.
We decided to use the dreaded and grossly misunderstood Steel Ammo chambered in 5.56. The Custom VPR 3 gun didn't like it so much. However, it is actually the Personal weapon of Alex, CEO/Owner of SRA; and is built to his needs. All of the standard competition grade VPR rifles as well as the Recon, The Urban Recon and the rest of the line from SRA; can chew up and spit out whatever ammo tickles your fancy.
These weapons systems are elite and up and coming. I have fired many AR-15 systems before, and I would pick these every time. At a fraction of the cost as some REALLY big name companies, you get a rifle that functions 10 times better without breaking the bank. Watch out shooting world, Savannah River Armory is coming at ya!
A Florida man banned from Starbucks for life because he called out customers who were breaking the law says he'd do it again to raise awareness for people with disabilities.
Rob Rowen says he received a letter from the manager at a Tampa location after we was accused of publicly shaming people for illegally using the handicapped parking spaces and confronting them inside the coffee shop with cell phone images he took of the violations. Rowen’s son-in-law has muscular dystrophy and uses a power wheelchair, he said.
“I saw someone park and it was obvious they weren’t handicapped,” Rowen toldWTSP. “There was no handicapped-parking sticker, it wasn’t a handicapped plate. And so I said to him you’re parked in the one handicapped space and you need to move your car.”
According to Rowen, some customers would move their cars after being confronted by Rowen, but others complained to the Starbucks manager.
Rowen told ABC News that the letter he was sent says: "you have been expelled from Starbucks Coffee Company's locations." The reasons were listed as "causing disruption to business" and "threatening the well-being of a customer or partner (employee)."
"I was shocked," Rowen said, but he also said he's "glad this is happening," because he's seen the problem at other places, too.
Starbucks initially said Rowan was no longer welcome at any of the chain's locations indefinitely but later said that the ban was temporary.
"We understand Mr. Rowen's concerns. We have been speaking with him about this and our leaders continue to try and reach out to him to resolve this matter. Starbucks is also working with the landlord of the property where this store is located to improve the parking situation. It is our goal to provide a warm, friendly and positive experience for all of our customers," Jim Olson told ABC News.
It’s no big secret that aside from blowing stuff up and going to the range, I am also a huge Comic geek and Pop culture nerd. So When I saw the Photo Noir comic “Red Bloods” I about flipped my sh*t! A perfect mashup of all I hold near and dear. I reached out to Jason Swarr the creator and photographer of “Red Bloods” and we chatted for a good bit. A Marine Comic book maker and a FMF Corpsman Fan Boy that writes blogs for Tactical Shit. What could go wrong?
Spike- How long have you been in to comics?
Jason- I’ve been a pop culture nerd my whole life. Maybe more of a closet nerd since I was kinda a jock in high school and did 20 years in the Marines. But I’ve always been a fan of comics.
Spike- What is your Military/Tactical Background?
Jason- Joined the Marines in 1991 and finished my career in 2011. Started out as a parachute rigger and found out that I really sucked at it and then crossed decked in the 0321 field (Reconnaissance Marine). Combat tours in Somalia and Iraq and then did my twilight tour as a Military Free Fall Instructor at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School in Yuma AZ. Went to some cool places, did some cool shit. Trust me though; I’m far from a war hero. Just an average Jar-head that grinded it out for 20 years.
Spike- Why the Noir’esque style of photography instead of cartoon drawing?
Jason- Great question….easy answer. I can’t draw. I’m talking not even a stick figure. I can see it in my mind….but my brain doesn’t coordinate with my hand. So, I took another route and studied at the University of Youtube until I learned composite photography.
Spike- What is your Inspiration for your Characters and Story line?
Jason- I love action movies. I love America. The story line just fell into place. I wanted the characters to be real. Bad ass patriots, but still normal people. Just like our real special operations guys. They will go out at night, shoot people in the faces for a few hours and then come back and read Mad magazine.
Spike- Where do you see the series going?
Jason- Red Bloods started out as a marketing piece for Shot Show 2015. We didn’t know how the tactical industry would handle it. Honestly, I thought we would get laughed out of the building. Man was I wrong. The fan support was amazing. I had so many people come tell me that they haven’t been this excited about a comic in 20 years. Now we have built a fan base in the 20 thousands and are growing everyday. Our sponsors are amazing as well. They took the risk of putting their names on a “comic” and we truly appreciate it. These are the companies that aren’t afraid to think outside the box. These are the companies I spend my money on at the end of the day.
Spike- What is your favorite sidearm?
Jason- Man, I’ve always been a Glock guy. I carry a G19 daily. Then Zev Technologies jumped on board as a sponsor and I got my hands on one of their customs. Now I get the best of both worlds carrying a glock on steroids. Not gonna lie, its hard not to open carry with that work of art. I want to show the world! Ha ha!
Spike- What is your favorite long gun?
Jason- That’s a tough one. I’m not a “real” long range shooter nor was I sniper in the Corps. But my favorite 308’s are Patriot Ordnance Factories P308 and Grey Ghost Precisions Spector Heavy. If you haven’t been behind either of these, stop reading this and get to the range now. They are tack drivers!
Spike- Favorite comic that isn’t yours and why?
Jason- My favorite comics are old school Sgt Rock and 1980’s Punisher. I love retro comics. Maybe I’m showing my age now.
Spike- Any movie possibilities for Red Bloods?
Jason- Good question. Obviously that’s the goal. We have been approached by 2 different production companies recently and they have expressed interest. I’m not holding my breath, but I know they are watching to see where we go with Issue 3. Maybe I’m bias, but I think this would make a kick ass series. If anybody out there agrees, go tell HBO and Cinemax to get off their asses and make it happen!
Spike- How was San Diego Comic Con?
Jason- San Diego Comic Con was surreal. Believe it our not, it’s not our audience. 90% of Red Bloods fans are the gun guys, airsofters and the gamers. Hard core comic readers hate photo comics. I was there to change their mind and show them it could be done right. After it was over, I feel I can give it the ol’ George Bush “Mission Accomplished”. Ha Ha! Everybody who saw it, loved it. Either that or they were afraid to tell a 6’2” tattoo’ed Marine anything different.
Spike- Were there a lot of smoking hot CosPlay ladies?
Jason- Ummm yeah…..no shortage my friend. Actually we found a new model for Red Bloods. She is a Navy Veteran turned Cos-Player named Diesel Mary. She is a bad ass and will make a nice addition to Issue 3. Check her out on IG @dieselmary
Extra Cool Factors about Straight 8 Photography and “Red Blood”
I have Tattoos everywhere, and I usually have to field a myriad of questions. Hopefully this VIDEO can answer some questions for you, and maybe break some of the Stereo Types. I personally try to think long and hard on what I permanently have placed on my body.
If you have the gumption to go get some ink, shop around, do your homework. Remember, "Cheap Tattoos aren't Good, and Good Tattoos aren't Cheap!"
It’s not often that I get to Interview someone, that by the end of the Interview; I feel as though I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. The pride I take in writing for Tactical Shit and in my books, is the same pride that Alex and the gang at Savannah River Armory put into their work.
A relatively new company, about 2 years old; they are the up and comers that the shooting community should be keeping their eyes on. SRA is fast gaining notoriety in the area of 3 gun competition customization as well as working with big names such as Rock Island Armory. Having done all of the gun coatings for R.I.A.’s 30th Anniversary 2015, 1911’s.
SRA is a Type 7 Manufacturer building everything from Uppers and Lowers to AR Pistols; and are the only Blackwater Certified Armorers in their area. Alex, a former L.E.O. works hand in hand with his team of Military Veterans to develop quality product as well as a training program that is not “in your face” but one that adapts to the shooters strengths. Every shooter has a different style, and what works for one shooter, doesn’t necessarily work for the next. (I get what he means. I hate that C Clamp grip thingy. Just saying.)
Alex, Roman and the gang have also started a series of Webisodes focusing on what if SHTF, called “Training for an Uncertain Tomorrow“. The video is about as BAD A** as it could be, I mean the opening sequence alone had my heart pumping and my butt on the edge of my seat. The cinematography is excellent and the video editing and performances of all involved are a sight for sore eyes. Hollywood should take notes.
Be sure to hit up their YouTube Channel and Subscribe, as well as their FB page and give them a LIKE over there as well. If you are in Georgia, you’re in a great State. Especially because you have true Patriots building quality American Made Arms right next door.
EPD: Bag found near Day School planted by same suspect who planted explosives near restaurant
Jess Raatz 14news reports that a suspect has been arrested and charged in #DevicesDiscovered case. Name is 25-year-old Caleb Loving.
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Police say the suspicious bag found near Day School was planted by the same suspect who planted a bag containing explosive devices near an Evansville restaurant.
Evansville police say a Molotov cocktail and a suspected pipe bomb were discovered inside a bag near the McDonald's in the 3300 block of N. Green River Rd.
Police tell us a McDonald's customer called 911 and said a man wearing a bullet proof vest walked inside with a suspicious bag. Officers say a bag was found and the restaurant was evacuated.
That area of Green River Rd. was closed off and the EPD Hazardous Device Unit was brought in to check it out.
Police say the Hazardous Device Unit has taken care of both of those devices. A man who lives behind the McDonald's tells 14NEWS the explosion shook his windows when the bomb squad detonated the suspected pipe bomb.
The second bag at Day School was discovered around 11:30 and police have moved to work that location as well.
EPD says they have called additional units to the area to check for any additional threats. Police are asking anyone in the area of Green River and Morgan to Lynch who sees any suspicious packages or devices to call 911 immediately.
Evansville police are asking people to avoid the area.
Police say they do have a suspect in custody. They say the suspect also matches the description of the person they were looking for in connection with an overnight arson at the Sugar Mill Creek apartment complex
For a while, Spike (IMP CEO) has been 'haunted' by a musical poltergeist. Keeping him from getting work done, the sashaying spectre plays random music to get Spike to dance rather than get work done. His wife thinks he's full of it and wants to go on "So You Think You Can Dance". Here are the videos in order.
Batman and Superman have slugged it out many times in the comics. Some people are probably not very clear as to how Bruce Wayne could even remotely defeat the come son of Jor El . The gang at Screen Rant put together a great list illustrating how. Great job gang!

2- Control Superman with Threats Against Others ('Collateral Damage') | 1:18
3- Fight Superman with Technology & Gadgets ('Superior Technology') | 2:37

Congressional leaders ordered the flags at the U.S. Capitol lowered to half-staff to honor the five victims of last week's shooting rampage in Chattanooga, Tenn. -- but no such order has come from President Obama, as the White House flag continues to fly Tuesday morning at full staff.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner said in a statement that as Congress returned to session on Tuesday, the flags were lowered for the Navy sailor and four Marines killed.
"Last week, five brave service members were murdered in a terror attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Out of respect for their courageous service and sacrifice to our nation, flags at the U.S. Capitol are being lowered to half-staff," Boehner said in a statement.
The House will also observe a moment of silence Tuesday evening for the victims.
McConnell said, "[T]he U.S. Senate's thoughts are with their families and loved ones, and with all those who protect us here, and around the world."
So far, the White House has not ordered its flags to be lowered.
