From a Genderbent Vincent Valentine from the Final Fantasy series to Lady Deadpool, Cheyenne Elizabeth, is a powerful persona. I first met Cheyenne at my first Steel City Con in December 2014. The giddy and loony Lady Deadpool, galloped and froliced over to my table where we spoke of many things GEEK.
The confidence and determination to remain in character was very impressive to say the least, and one could most definitley see the passion she has for Cosplay and all things GEEK in her heart.
IMP- How did you get into cosplay?
CE- I always wanted to be a super hero or even wear some of the cute/awesome outfits I see in the anime or in games.
IMP- How long have you been cosplaying?
CE- I've been going to cons and cosplaying for about 4 years now. My first con was Steel City Con and my first cosplay was Lady Deadpool.
IMP- What are some of the biggest challenges when it comes to cosplay?
CE- Ha ha! It can either be the harassment or making it so it fits just right. Not too loose or too tight.
IMP- What is my favorite cosplay?
CE- I love this question because I never really know between the two. I have A gender bent Goku and Wanda Wilson aka Lady Deadpool.
IMP-Tell me about the charity work that you do, or intend to do.
CE- Well to be honest I haven't done any yet. But I've been wanting to for a long time, I thought about wearing my deadpool cosplay to one of the hospitals around me but I also remember that deadpool isn't the most/best role model for children but I plan on making some more hero cosplays to wear and hangout with little kids at hospital.
IMP- How many cons do I go to a year?
CE- At the most probably 2 and that's mostly because I work a lot. I would go more if I could afford to but I need money to also do my cosplays.
IMP- What is your favorite convention so far?
CE- Probably Tekkoshocon, a big anime convention in Pittsburgh. I've gone for years and I haven't been disappointed yet.
IMP- Do you do other events besides cons? If so, what are they?
CE- I am actually part of anime and gaming club at my college and I wear my cosplays at school for our fundraisers. I also sometimes wear them when I stream on twitch depending on what game I'm playing.
IMP- What advice would you give to someone just starting to cosplay?
CE- Have fun, don't listen to body standards, it doesn't matter if you bought the cosplay or made it. All that matters is you have fun and enjoy yourself. Also, don't let anyone touch you without your permission. No one has a right to your body except you.
IMP- What other aspects of geek-dom do you enjoy?
CE- Well, I like to collect figures, I play and stream video games, I'm a movie/anime and book lover, and I study illustration to become a comic book artist.
